February-March Assignment: Body Parts vs. Languages

The results from the blog poll came in at noon on Tuesday. A pretty good turn out (84 people voted), though I think we can do better next time. Here are the results:

1st Place is a TIE!

I Get Tongue Tied: Songs in a Language Other Than English
vs. More Than the Sum of its Parts: Songs About Body Parts

This means you get to choose between Body Parts and Languages for the theme of your next mix!

Some things to consider:

• You must pick one or the other for a single mix. (No mixing songs about body parts with songs in different languages!)

• You can participate in both assignments, but we ask that you send $3 for each mix you turn in.

• Regardless of whether you choose one or the other or both to participate in, you are still required to follow the rules of each assignment.

Read carefully!

DUE MARCH 31st, 2011

THEME OPTION 1--
More than the sum of its parts: songs about body parts.
Make a mix of songs about body parts.

...There are many different ways people describe parts on their body or other people's bodies. There are also many different words for the same part. Take for example a vagina. Some people might call it a pussy, while others call it a kitten, and still others may just say OPP. You get the idea. Get creative, and have some fun!

THEME OPTION 2--
i get tongue tied: songs in languages other than english.
Make a mix of songs that are sung in different languages.

...Are you a linguist? Eartha Kitt was. But you don't have to be to enjoy the many different languages this world has to offer, especially when they are put to music. Music is the universal language, am I right? Maybe you'll learn a few new words along the way!
